What is ADHD?
ADHD, or Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects a person’s ability to focus, control impulses, and regulate activity levels.
In the U.S., it's estimated that about 8-10% of adolescents are diagnosed with ADHD, making it one of the most common mental health conditions in this age group.
Types of ADHD
Predominantly Inattentive Type: Individuals primarily struggle with inattention, making it difficult to focus, stay organized, and complete tasks. They may appear forgetful or easily distracted.
Predominantly Hyperactive-Impulsive Type: This type involves hyperactivity and impulsive behaviors, such as fidgeting, difficulty sitting still, or acting without thinking. Inattention is less of a primary issue.
Combined Type: This is the most common form and includes both inattentiveness and hyperactive-impulsive symptoms. Individuals exhibit a mix of difficulties with focus, impulsivity, and excessive activity.
